I recently completed two consulting jobs.
Lucian’s Consulting Project Success # 1
On the first consulting job I created over $50 million dollars in extra shareholder wealth for my client company. Because of confidentiality agreements, I can reveal only the nature of the consulting activities. Simply stated, I developed and installed a new financial evaluation process for authorization and implementation of capital projects.
I guess I am now the $50 million dollar man. Unfortunately for me, I did the gig on a “fixed fee” basis and not on a “percentage” basis. Poor negotiating skills on my part? No. Not really! I did not do a percentage fee because I had no idea my ideas would help my client create so much value. The client determined the value.
You might say, “Lucian, What did you do for them?” It was actually very simple. I designed a process whereby they could make better decisions on expenditures by authorizing, ranking and selecting shareholder wealth creating projects in a different way. Helping them implement my new evaluation and decision processes changed there whole value proposition for the positive. They tracked the results of the process and discovered in just a two year time frame they recovered my fee plus over $50,000,000 in extra shareholder wealth. I wish I had charged 1%of the value created as my fee. That would mean I would have received $500,000 in fees. And a 10% fee would have netted me $5 million dollars.
Oh well, I have the joy of knowing I helped a struggling $25 billion dollar Fortune 500 company make more money!
Lucian’s Consulting Project Success # 2
On the second consulting project, I helped one of my Fortune 500 clients create a “virtual company” within their own company. It was a cool idea that is creating millions of dollars in extra shareholder wealth. This was the second time I have done this “virtual company.”
