Huge Resurgence in Demand for My “Ratemaking for Operating Employees” course.
I have been teaching many, many of my “How a Utility Makes Money” courses, which I call “Ratemaking” courses. I have received rave reviews for my Ratemaking content and my teaching style. Very few of you have had this course. There is a huge resurgence in need for this course in utilities today. I teach various versions of this course with slightly different content and emphasis. I have different versions for the following groups:
- Ratemaking for Operating Employees
- Ratemaking for Accountants
- Ratemaking for Rate Department Employees
- Ratemaking for New Employees
You might wonder why there is such a need for ratemaking training courses today. There is a simple reason! From 1978 until 1992 one of my bread and butter courses in the utility industry was Ratemaking for Non Financial Utility Employees. The course was basically a course on How a Utility Makes Money in a regulated monopoly.
When Deregulation Laws hit in 1992 utility leaders started emphasizing competition and deregulation and de-emphasizing the utility side of the business. The utility part of the business was put on the “back burner” for 15 years. As a result very few “Ratemaking” courses were taught to the new employees hired after 1992. Therefore, there are thousands of employees in the utility industry that do not understand ratemaking or how their utility makes money!
This pent-up demand for ratemaking training has led to a 500% rise in the demand for my Ratemaking courses! I have a basic version of the course (two days) and an advanced version of the course (three days).
